Associate Medical Writer – Remote (South Africa)

About the role

MMS, an award‑winning clinical research organization, is seeking an Associate Medical Writer to join its South African team. This home‑based position supports pharmaceutical, biotech and medical‑device clients by preparing clear, regulatory‑compliant documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and format a variety of medical writing documents using MMS templates and style guides.
• Perform quality control checks and maintain QC trackers.
• Incorporate client feedback and straightforward comments into deliverables.
• Assist in managing client meetings and project communications.
• Support end‑to‑end project execution under guidance, identifying and mitigating basic risks.

Required profile

• College degree in a scientific, medical, clinical or related discipline (master’s or PhD preferred).
• 0‑2 years of experience in medical writing or a related field.
• Understanding of scientific principles, clinical trial data, and the drug development process.
• Good communication, problem‑solving and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 27001, 21 CFR Part 11, FDA and GCP requirements is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Basic knowledge of regulatory guidance relevant to medical writing.
• Experience with QC processes, templates and document formatting.
