Assistant Manager – R&D Tax (Hybrid) – Cape Town

About the role

We are partnering with a top‑20 UK accountancy and advisory firm to hire an Assistant Manager for their R&D Tax practice in Cape Town. The role is hybrid and offers the chance to work with innovative software and technology clients, delivering complex R&D tax claims in a project‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end R&D tax claims for a diverse portfolio of clients.
• Prepare technical reports and financial assessments supporting claim submissions.
• Conduct detailed tax analysis, review computations and identify tax‑efficient opportunities.
• Provide advisory guidance to software and technology businesses.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to team development.

Required profile

• Experience in corporate or business tax, preferably within a Big 4 or mid‑tier advisory environment.
• Exposure to tax incentives, advisory projects or complex tax work.
• Strong analytical, communication and client‑management abilities.
• Relevant tax qualification such as CA(SA), SA(TA) or CTA is preferred.
