Assistant Manager - Credit Risk (Regulatory & Financial Risk)

About the role

Deloitte's Regulatory & Financial Risk (RFR) division advises financial services providers and corporate treasury operations across Africa. The RFR Credit team sits within RFR and delivers services such as IFRS 9 impairment models, economic capital credit models, scorecards, behavioural product pricing, credit monitoring frameworks, collections optimisation, strategy and risk appetite statements, and secondments. This Assistant Manager role supports the RFR Credit Risk Team in delivering services to and at client premises on delegated engagements and projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and calibrate credit risk models, and carry out model validation, monitoring and testing
• Benchmark credit metrics against peers in the market and derive portfolio credit analytics
• Review client deliverables for quality, accuracy and completeness
• Communicate project challenges and outcomes with clients and team members
• Draft project reports and share knowledge and skills with colleagues

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Financial Engineering, Actuarial Science, Engineering, Economics or Econometrics
• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in banking, financial services consulting or a similar environment
• Experience providing strategic insights to partners and project management experience
• Solid financial knowledge and demonstrated leadership and execution skills

Required skills

• Credit risk modelling, including predictive modelling, and financial modelling (PD, EAD, LGD, Basel II, IAS 39)
• Basic understanding of the credit lifecycle, model risk management, Basel regulations and IFRS 9
• MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint; coding in SAS, SAS Enterprise Guide, R and/or Python
