Assistant Facilities Manager

About the role

The Assistant Facilities Manager supports the efficient, safe and professional operation of all hotel facilities, infrastructure and technical systems, so that guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces and critical building systems are kept to the highest standard. The role assumes responsibility for the department in the absence of the Facilities Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Support daily facilities and maintenance operations, supervising staff and allocating tasks
• Oversee preventative maintenance across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, generators, lifts and fire safety systems
• Manage compliance, contractors and service providers to maintain quality and safety standards
• Assist with maintenance budgeting, cost control and capital expenditure tracking
• Provide leadership and departmental support, stepping in for the Facilities Manager when required

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) required; a Hotel Management, Technical or Facilities-related qualification is advantageous
• 4-6 years' experience in facilities management, maintenance supervision or engineering within hospitality/hotels
• Relocation costs are at your own expense if you live outside the city where the hotel is located

Required skills

• Strong leadership, planning and problem-solving skills
• Understanding of health, safety and compliance standards
• Trade certification or contractor-management experience is beneficial
