FIT Reservations Agent

About the role

Cape Grace, a Fairmont managed hotel in Cape Town, is looking for a full-time FIT Reservations Agent. The agent sells rooms and services to independent travellers, handles enquiries by telephone and email, and acts as an ambassador for the hotel and its brand.

Key responsibilities

• Handle enquiries about hotel products and services and quote the right room and rate
• Book reservations accurately and arrange accommodation, special requests and activities for leisure, corporate and wholesaler guests
• Understand groups, including cut-off dates, blocking and booking policies
• Apply revenue management principles such as sell levels and sell-directed rates to available inventory
• Follow up on deposits in line with FIT terms and conditions, and inform accounts and the front office before arrival
• Attend PM/PQ meetings to follow up on outstanding payments
• Assist group reservations and liaise with Housekeeping, Front Office, Spa and Food & Beverage
• Keep accurate bookings and guest confirmations, and follow department SOPs

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent; a hospitality management qualification is strongly recommended
• 1 year of experience in a similar position and customer service
• Fluent English, with a second language an asset
• Ability to work flexible shift timings

Required skills

• Opera property management system
• Microsoft Office Suite to intermediate level
• Previous experience with TARS is advantageous
• Above-average numerical and communication skills
