Artisan (Production) - Electrical Maintenance

About the role

The General and Public Works (GPW) is recruiting an Artisan (Production) for electrical services maintenance in Pretoria. The position covers the maintenance and repair of electrical equipment at GPW sites, with a salary of R253 341.00 per annum (OSD).

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and repair all equipment at GPW sites according to scheduled maintenance and lead times, keeping an accurate history of maintenance through work orders.
• Escalate and expedite maintenance that delays production or poses risks to health, safety and the environment.
• Inspect electrical equipment and report defects and damage to the supervisor.
• Monitor quality assurance so that maintenance and repair work meets GPW and other authority standards.
• Manage work orders: receive them from the supervisor each morning, complete them, close them, order materials or escalate to agents or OEMs.
• Submit reports, manage leave and time and attendance, and attend meetings and training.
• Ensure safety, health, environment and quality compliance, including proper use of PPE and regular risk assessments.

Required profile

• Grade 10 or equivalent qualification plus a completed apprenticeship.
• Trade Test Certificate in Electrical; Grade 12 is an added advantage.
• No experience required; experience in the printing industry is an added advantage.
• Must obtain a positive security clearance and hold a valid driver's licence.
• Understanding of the Public Service Act, Public Service Regulations, Labour Relations Act, SHREQ requirements, Skills Development Act, PFMA and Treasury Regulations.
