Cranes Field Supervisor

About the role

Konecranes, a global leader in material handling solutions, is hiring a Supervisor in Richards Bay. The role supervises a team of field operatives so that customer requirements are met and work is carried out safely, diligently and to a high standard.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and complete customer-required inspections and preventative maintenance schedules, keeping them on time and informing management of exceptions.
• Carry out inspections to established standards, document findings and recommend corrective actions to customers, including safety concerns.
• Provide daily supervision and support for site-based inspectors and technicians, with spot checks on quality and workmanship.
• Prepare and review service reports, time sheets and inspection reports, and obtain customer signatures where needed.
• Offer quick quotes for immediate service or repair needs and complete the related paperwork for tracking and follow-up.
• Maintain company equipment, vehicles and assets in safe working order and report any deficiencies.
• Ensure compliance with safety rules and procedures, including those set by the customer, and comply with OHS Acts, regulations and health and safety policies, reporting hazards, incidents and injuries.
• Support the implementation of the Service Model in the field, improve asset data quality and generate improvement opportunities and sales leads.
• Work within the applicable delegation of authority and carry out other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Electrical or millwright trade qualification.
• Accreditation as a Lifting Machinery Inspector (LMI).
• Minimum of 5 years of field service experience and demonstrable supervisory experience.
• Comprehensive technical knowledge of cranes.
• Understanding of SHEQ principles and legislation, and proven ability to work in confined spaces, at height and on elevated areas.
• Willingness and ability to travel locally and internationally.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
• LMI accreditation.
