Artisan Assistant – Maintenance Support

About the role

As an Artisan Assistant you will support Sandvik Mining’s artisans in maintaining and repairing mining equipment for our clients. The position is based in a workshop environment and involves both scheduled and emergency tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Assist artisans with service and breakdown activities, including visual inspections of machines.
• Maintain a clean workshop, tools and equipment and follow the workshop map.
• Check wrapping, hoses and relay messages between operations.
• Provide feedback on machine condition and report hazardous conditions.
• Participate in incident/accident investigations and follow SMRT SHEQ procedures.
• Use correct tools and complete technical readings during maintenance work.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / N3 Technical Qualification or equivalent.
• Ability to work in a workshop or underground environment.
• Basic English proficiency and computer literacy.
• First Aid Level 1 (advantageous).
• Team‑oriented mindset and willingness to follow safety and quality standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data entry and reporting.
• Basic computer skills for creating spreadsheets, charts and presentations.
• First Aid knowledge (preferred).
