AI Analyst

About the role

A global investment firm focused on Africa, China, the UK and the US is hiring an AI Analyst in Cape Town on a permanent basis, working hybrid. The analyst supports the team's AI initiatives and helps build AI-enabled solutions that improve risk and performance reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Support team AI initiatives and collaborate on process improvements.
• Identify and implement automation and technology advancements to drive efficiency.
• Develop AI agents, workflows and tools using LLMs, Databricks, SQL, Python, Power BI and Excel for reporting and data validation.
• Analyse business processes to find problems, risks and opportunities for mapping and documentation.
• Build checks, controls and testing procedures for AI-generated outputs before client delivery.
• Improve data quality, lineage and technical specifications for portfolio, benchmark and market data.
• Contribute to broader AI and automation projects across the business as required.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary degree beneficial (Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, etc.).
• Certifications in machine learning, statistics, financial modelling or data engineering are beneficial.
• 1-3 years of experience in AI tools, LLM-based workflows, automation or coding projects, with demonstrable project implementation.
• Background or exposure to investment, risk or performance data is a strong advantage.
• High curiosity, fast learning, strong analytical skills and a proactive, organised approach.
• Clear communication, effective time management under pressure and ability to meet deadlines.
• Works well independently and collaboratively; safeguards sensitive client data.

Required skills

• Familiarity with SQL and cloud data platforms such as Databricks.
• Experience with AI tools, LLM-based workflows, automation and coding projects.
