Accountant/Admin Manager

About the role

The retail division of SPAR Group operates six stores in the Western Cape and is expanding. We are seeking a Pillar 1 Accountant/Admin Manager to own POS and revenue systems, drive cash control and support new store openings. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will work closely with a counterpart Pillar 2 accountant to ensure financial integrity across all locations.

Key responsibilities

• Govern POS and Sigma systems – manage VAT mapping, tender configuration, user permissions and perform technical integrity checks.
• Drive daily revenue and cash‑up processes, ensure end‑of‑day clearing accounts are zero‑balanced and investigate cash variances.
• Lead the Admin Manager and Cash Office, maintain operational cadence and support the wider Store AA team.
• Cross‑verify cash clearing, VAT reviews, asset additions and GP reporting with Pillar 2.
• Support new store openings – configure Sigma, set up tenders and deliver administrative training.
• Maintain chart of accounts, facilitate contract setups (e.g., Lotto) and prepare monthly budget forecasts.

Required profile

• BCom Accounting or equivalent (NQF 7); SAIPA or CIMA articles advantageous.
• Minimum 5 years finance experience, at least 2 years in a retail or multi‑store environment.
• Proven team‑leadership experience.
• Valid driver’s licence, clear credit and criminal records.
