Accountant – Independent Reviews & Compilations

About the role

This position is for an Accountant specialised in Independent Reviews and Compilations within a well‑established audit and accounting firm. The role is based in the Cape Town office (with possible work in Johannesburg) and sits in the Assurance Department, reporting to the relevant Director.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality Independent Review engagements from planning through to finalisation and lockdown.
• Attend client meetings related to Independent Review assignments.
• Train junior staff on Independent Review processes.
• Compile financial statements in accordance with IFRS and IFRS for SMEs, including full working‑paper files.
• Maintain client relationships and manage key client interactions.
• Monitor personal and team budgets, record time daily in Greatsoft, and ensure accurate time‑tracking.
• Perform administration tasks as directed by Assurance leadership.
• Adhere to the firm’s Quality and Independence policies.

Required profile

• Completed SAICA articles with working knowledge of IFRS and IFRS for SMEs.
• BCom degree minimum; PGDA or CTA is an advantage.
• Proven experience drafting and preparing financial statements using Caseware Working Papers.
• Strong assurance background is beneficial.
