Workshop Manager – Boksburg

About the role

Our client in Boksburg/Brakpan is looking for a highly experienced Technical Operations Manager to lead a multidisciplinary technical workforce of around 30 staff. The role combines deep engineering knowledge with strong managerial leadership to ensure operational efficiency, cost control, equipment reliability and strict deadline compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of approximately 30 technical staff.
• Ensure all work is completed within strict operational timeframes.
• Manage job cards, cost allocation and operational expenditure.
• Oversee Power Generation, Welding (engine‑driven & inverter), Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic, Pneumatic and Rigging divisions.
• Maintain proper maintenance of all plant and related equipment.
• Source and guide procurement of spare parts and technical components.
• Maintain firm leadership while promoting an open‑door culture.
• Ensure efficient workflow and quality workmanship across all divisions.
• Report directly to the Plant Manager, with line function to the CEO and Operations Manager.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in a similar technical managerial role.
• Relevant technical or engineering qualification.
• Strong technical knowledge of power generation systems up to 1000kVA, engine‑driven and inverter welding systems, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic tools.
• Ability to manage job cards and cost‑control processes.
• Ability to source and procure spare parts.
• Basic computer literacy (essential).
• Strong managerial presence – firm, structured and able to lead a large technical team.
• Plant & equipment rental experience (advantageous).
