Wealth Banker

About the role

Absa is looking for a Wealth Banker in George to manage and grow a portfolio of high net worth clients, trusts, investment holding companies and businesses, and to service their banking, lending and foreign exchange needs. The role also provides specialist advice and support on strategy, practice formulation and best practice improvements.

Key responsibilities

• New business: devise short-term tactical plans to meet annual budget and targets over 6 to 12 months; identify, develop and source new high net worth and ultra high net worth relationships through referrals and internal group networks; achieve personal targets for new and existing clients in transactional banking, credit and FX; refer business to other parts of Wealth Advisory and the wider Absa Group.
• Existing clients: hold quarterly meetings with each client in the portfolio; run annual credit reviews with the cooperation of regional teams; act as the main contact and coordinator for client advice and queries across transactional banking, credit, FX and structured lending.
• Credit involvement: gather information on transactional banking, credit and FX, prepare security status reports and financial analysis, ensure credit reviews are done on time, and liaise with product houses on credit reviews, overdrafts and home loans.
• Governance and control: ensure compliance with global and market standards, regulatory compliance, KYC, product delivery and the Front Office manual.
• Query resolution: resolve client portfolio queries and act as escalation point for serious complaints.
• Operational support: prepare file notes, client letters and other documentation for client meetings, and act as focal point for day-to-day client administration.

Required profile

• Postgraduate degree in Business, Commerce and Management Studies (required).
• Professional qualifications.
