Audit Manager: Sustainability Assurance and Integrated Reporting

About the role

Absa is hiring an Audit Manager for its Internal Audit function in Johannesburg. The role provides independent assurance over the Group's sustainability strategy, ESG risks, responsible business practices, commitments, metrics and disclosures, and supports readiness for evolving sustainability reporting and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Assure sustainability governance, objectives, targets, delivery plans, data and implementation across the Group
• Assure sustainability and ESG risk frameworks, risk appetite, policies and reporting to governance forums
• Assure ESG-related regulatory and prudential requirements and disclosure controls
• Assure sustainability metrics, data lineage, controls and external disclosures
• Provide assurance on sustainability sections of the Integrated Report and work with other assurance providers to avoid duplication
• Lead sustainability and ESG internal audit assignments, engage senior stakeholders and present findings to governance forums
• Act as Internal Audit subject matter expert, maintain knowledge of GRI, PRB, JSE requirements, ISSA 5000 and ISAE 3000, and train teams
• Line manage and develop the team, promote knowledge sharing and continuous improvement

Required profile

• More than six years' relevant experience in sustainability assurance, ESG, sustainability risk, climate risk or sustainability reporting
• Demonstrable experience assessing governance, data, controls, methodologies and disclosures
• Experience leading complex assurance, audit or risk assignments and engaging senior stakeholders

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of sustainability strategy, ESG risk, climate and environmental matters, social considerations, responsible finance and sustainability governance
• Sustainability assurance standards (ISSA 5000, ISAE 3000)
