Ward Clerk – Ward 4

About the role

The Ward Clerk supports the nursing team in Ward 4 of Life Wilgers Hospital by handling administrative tasks, coordinating inter‑departmental communication, and ensuring smooth non‑clinical operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain optimal service levels and meet unit targets.
• Execute non‑nursing activities efficiently, including bookings and patient transport.
• Attend scheduled meetings and in‑service training.
• Uphold safety standards, stay updated on emergency protocols, and ensure a safe environment.
• Identify and file patient documentation correctly to minimise medico‑legal risk.
• Provide friendly, helpful client service and maintain a professional appearance.
• Observe quality principles, professional secrecy, and effective communication with customers and colleagues.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification.
• General administrative experience.
• Strong attention to detail and result‑orientation.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Customer‑focused mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Required skills

• Computer literacy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
