VIP (Security) Officer

About the role

Hollywoodbets is looking for a VIP (Security) Officer for its Govan Mbeki branch in Port Elizabeth. The officer creates and maintains a safe environment for people, which includes securing premises through surveillance monitoring or patrols, preventing loss and theft and reporting irregularities or suspicious acts. The position is permanent.

Key responsibilities

• Be present 15 minutes before the branch opens, conduct a perimeter patrol and check for suspicious movements; stay vigilant until the branch closes.
• Walk the floor once the branch is open and validate all observation checks before the Branch Manager or Senior Team Leader continues their daily checks.
• Position yourself away from the entrance during opening and closing, and patrol inside, outside, back areas and parking areas.
• Keep two-way radios charged, charge batteries overnight, and keep panic buttons and radios in good working condition.
• Search guests entering the branch using a scanner, keep doors and gates closed, and ensure only same-gender officers scan guests; no bags are allowed inside.
• Direct traffic, control vehicle entry and exit, and close one door at end of day to reduce risk.
• Attend branch meetings, help receive stock and run alarm tests, and submit the daily report by 10:00 am.
• Greet guests warmly, handle complaints positively and wish guests well when they leave.
• Follow compliance rules: full uniform with name badge, no weapons, no alcohol, no persons under 18, and no betting or use of the limited pay-out machine by officers on duty.
• Stay alert, do not accept tips, and press the panic button if a customer becomes difficult.

Required profile

• Grade C.
• 1-2 years of security experience.
• Registered with PSIRA.
• Computer literate; a valid driver's licence is advantageous.
• Able to work rotating shifts and flexible hours, and physically fit for the job.
