Security Specialist - O.R. Tambo SEZ / GIDZ

About the role

The Gauteng Growth and Development Agency (GGDA), the implementation arm of the Department of Economic Development, is recruiting a permanent Security Specialist for the O.R. Tambo SEZ / GIDZ. The post reports to the Security Supervisor and coordinates and oversees all security control room operations, including monitoring outsourced functions and alerting security teams to suspicious activity. The total cost of employment is R300 000 per annum.

Key responsibilities

• CCTV monitoring: operate and monitor surveillance systems in the control room, report unusual activity, and respond to system alarms and emergencies
• Record keeping: maintain the occurrence book, log incidents, anomalies and faults, and keep records of daily operations and equipment performance
• Security operations and support: relay incident notifications to the supervisor, interface with precinct officers, dispatch security officers, track guards on duty and keep the precinct safe
• Security systems optimisation: check that equipment works, report breakdowns, monitor alarms and carry out preliminary troubleshooting and reboots
• Manage the procurement team, including hiring, training and discipline

Required profile

• Matric / Grade 12
• Grade C PSIRA registered
• Experience of control room operations
• Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Knowledge of the OSI model and IP security systems
