Supervisory Electrician – Food Manufacturing

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Supervisory Electrician to join a well‑established food manufacturing company in Cape Town. The role involves ensuring reliable operation of high‑speed production and packaging equipment while leading a technical maintenance team.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all electrical maintenance activities.
• Perform advanced mechatronic fault‑finding on production and packaging machinery.
• Maintain high‑speed equipment, diagnosing faults on PLC‑controlled systems, VSDs, sensors, motors and control circuits.
• Carry out planned preventative and corrective maintenance.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Inspect installations for legal and safety compliance.
• Assist with machine upgrades, installations and commissioning.
• Allocate work and provide technical guidance to junior artisans.
• Maintain accurate job cards, maintenance records and technical reports.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, health and safety procedures.

Required profile

• Qualified and trade‑tested Electrician with a valid Wireman’s Licence.
• Minimum 5 years post‑trade experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Previous supervisory or team‑leadership experience.
• Strong mechatronic and electrical fault‑finding ability.
• Experience with automated production and packaging machinery, preferably in food or FMCG.
• Willingness to work shifts, overtime and attend breakdowns as needed.
• Current residence in Cape Town.
