Strategy Enablement Head

About the role

Standard Bank Group is looking for a Strategy Enablement Head in Johannesburg to facilitate strategy enablement for a Business Line, Group Function (GF) or region. The role translates strategic ambition into integrated, scalable initiatives, drives alignment and execution, shapes strategic governance and embeds strategy into the organisation's operating rhythm, culture and performance architecture.

Key responsibilities

• Advise the executive team on market positioning, competitive advantage and strategic trade-offs, and lead strategic scenario planning and foresight
• Conduct research and generate insights, and influence investment decisions and portfolio prioritisation
• Establish strategic frameworks and lead the early development and refinement of strategic initiatives, tracking them and ensuring coherence across geographies
• Influence StratCO agendas, embed execution discipline through tools, standards and capability building, and escalate risks to executive forums
• Draft strategic narratives and presentations for Exco and the Board, develop communication plans and collateral, and lead change engagement sessions
• Track delivery against strategic KPIs, refine strategy with performance data, and guide the evolution of business models
• Build partnerships with thought leaders, academia and industry bodies, integrate strategic risk management, and sponsor continuity programmes
• Influence strategic budgeting, investment planning and capital allocation, and monitor cost-to-income and strategic value creation metrics

Required profile

• Postgraduate degree in Business, Commerce, Finance and Accounting, Generic Management or Risk Management
• More than 10 years of experience in business enablement, business support and strategy within financial services
• Experience influencing teams and business leads to drive transformational change across multiple jurisdictions in a banking context
• Proven track record of delivering projects to completion and contributing to strategic thinking
