Stope Serviceman – Mining Maintenance Technician

About the role

The Stope Serviceman will work in underground stopes and development areas, ensuring that all mining machinery and equipment are maintained and ready for production. This hands‑on position supports the Engineering Department by performing routine maintenance, repairs, and breakdown response in a high‑performance mining environment.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on underground mining equipment and defective units.
• Prepare and complete job cards, work orders and shift reports accurately.
• Ensure required tools, spare parts and consumables are available before starting tasks.
• Report any equipment malfunctions to the Engineering Foreman or Artisan.
• Follow the operational risk management programme and adhere to safety procedures (A1 Safety).
• Assist during equipment breakdowns or emergencies and support the engineering team as needed.

Required profile

• Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science, or N2 Trade qualification (four subjects).
• Certified Competent Stope Serviceman (UG hard‑rock) – preferred.
• Electrical trade qualification is an advantage.
• At least 18 months experience in engineering repair or multi‑discipline assistance, preferably in a mining environment.
