Software Development Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to join SprintHive’s engineering team. The role is remote‑first with occasional hybrid collaboration in Cape Town. You will work on our fintech onboarding platform, delivering high‑quality code that powers fast, secure customer onboarding.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full software development lifecycle, from architectural design through production deployment and ongoing maintenance.
• Write production‑ready code in a cloud‑native, micro‑services environment, adhering to security best practices.
• Participate in on‑call rotation, resolve incidents, and address technical debt to ensure system reliability.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to create user‑centric solutions that balance performance and usability.
• Contribute to architectural discussions, challenge assumptions, and commit to agreed‑upon directions.
• Perform thorough code reviews and maintain up‑to‑date technical documentation.
• Maintain automated testing suites and CI/CD pipelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in fintech or payments.
• Proven track record of shipping production code, with a public GitHub portfolio or similar evidence.
• Experience with event‑driven architectures and complex business logic.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
