Social Worker – Swartland Night Shelter

About the role

The Haven Night Shelter is seeking a qualified Social Worker to join its Swartland location. You will report directly to the Shelter Manager and provide comprehensive social work services to adults living on the streets, supporting their rehabilitation, family reunification and reintegration.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver all social work services, including the development and monitoring of Personal Development Plans (PDPs) and Exit Plans for each client.
• Schedule and conduct regular reviews, manage exit dates and ensure timely completion of group work sessions, aiming for at least 10 hours of group work per week.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of client information and coordinate with the Shelter Manager to align with the overall work programme.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker registered with SACSSP in South Africa.
• Valid Code B driver’s licence (non‑negotiable).
• Proven ability to protect client information and handle confidential records.
• No criminal record and ability to work well within a team.
• Fluency in English; a second language is advantageous.
• Experience in the NGO sector is a plus.
