Shop Assistant / Cashier X1

About the role

This full-time Shop Assistant / Cashier X1 position is based at Clicks Meyerton in Gauteng. It delivers service excellence through efficient customer service, point of sale (POS) operations and merchandising in the store, aiming for a positive customer experience. The role sits in Customer Care, Success and Service, as well as Procurement / Store-keeping / Supply Chain.

Key responsibilities

• Execute all point of sale operations accurately and on time, including scanning merchandise, collecting payment and processing clubcard rewards.
• Handle cash safely at all times.
• Promote the Clicks clubcard and enrol new members to meet participation targets.
• Tell customers about promotions so they feel good and pay less.
• Act as a brand ambassador, giving friendly and professional service.
• Maintain merchandising and general housekeeping to store and visual merchandise standards.
• Keep up to date on products, ranges, promotions and events to give customers correct information.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric); Maths 50% and English 50% at Grade 12 level desirable.
• Desirable: experience in a customer-facing role in a retail or FMCG store.
• Basic maths calculations, numeracy and stock management knowledge.
• Planning, problem-solving, communication and computer literacy skills.
• Essential competencies: relating and networking, following instructions and procedures, delivering results and meeting customer expectations.
