Shop Assistant / Cashier - Clicks Alex Mall

About the role

Clicks Group is hiring two permanent Shop Assistant / Cashier positions at its Clicks store in Alex Mall, Alexandra. The role combines efficient point-of-sale service with merchandising and general housekeeping, so candidates must be comfortable serving customers, processing transactions and keeping the store tidy.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the point-of-sale system accurately: scan merchandise, process purchases, collect payments and complete transactions correctly.
• Follow company procedures for cash handling and maintain transaction accuracy.
• Promote the Clicks ClubCard loyalty programme and explain membership benefits to customers.
• Inform customers about promotions, relevant products and loyalty opportunities.
• Maintain merchandise according to store standards and keep the shop clean and organised.
• Work under pressure during busy periods and cooperate with colleagues and supervisors.

Required profile

• Completed Grade 12; a Grade 12 Mathematics result of at least 50% is desirable.
• Previous retail or FMCG experience is advantageous but not compulsory.
• Customer-focused attitude, strong communication skills and ability to meet customer expectations.

Required skills

• Basic numeracy for processing transactions and handling payments.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Ability to follow established procedures and organise tasks.
