Senior Professional Nurse - Day Clinic Theatre & Ward

About the role

Mediclinic Limpopo Day Clinic in Polokwane is recruiting one Senior Professional Nurse for its day clinic theatre and ward. The position is permanent and on-site. The nurse supports the Unit Manager in delivering a safe and positive client experience by mitigating clinical risks and coordinating care delivery, while providing direct patient care and mentoring new and student nurses.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure comprehensive and safe patient care by mitigating risks and meeting clinical quality standards
• Manage the client experience
• Ensure optimal supply, retention and utilisation of staffing resources
• Build staff competence through continuous assessment and development
• Assist in managing operational expenses, including stock and capital

Required profile

• Professional Nurse qualification
• Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing if managing a specialist unit such as perioperative nursing
• 3 years of professional nurse experience in a hospital
• 1 year of mentor experience
• Preference given according to the Employment Equity Plan, as well as to internal applicants who meet the minimum requirements

• Nursing record keeping and audit of patient records
• Development and modification of nursing care plans
• Patient assessment and risk identification
• Infection prevention and control
• Basic life support and ACLS, ATLS, PALS training for specialised wards
• Relevant nursing legislation and scientific nursing principles
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
