Pharmacy Intern

About the role

Roche is looking for a Pharmacy Intern in Johannesburg. The intern works within the GMP and Compliance framework, performing site operations in line with the Pharmacy Act and Medicines Act, and liaising with the Manager and/or the Responsible Pharmacist on product quality issues. Depending on the station, the intern may work in QA, supply chain or other departments.

Key responsibilities

• Work in a way that ensures products meet the required quality and compliance standards, following training and the Pharmacy Act and Medicines Act.
• Comply with cGMP requirements and assist in assuring good documentation practices.
• Ensure compliance with relevant Roche policies and SOPs, and liaise with the Manager and/or Responsible Pharmacist on product quality issues.
• Support continuous quality improvement through troubleshooting, problem solving and root cause investigations; complete additional activities as required by the department (QA, PV, RA, GCP).
• Assist with inventory management and stock control of scheduled and unscheduled pharmaceuticals (when in Supply Chain).
• Carry out general duties: perform all tasks within the GMP framework, handle day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork, collect, collate and maintain information and data, and use various computer systems.
• Work cooperatively with the team and communicate clearly with supervisors and peers by telephone, email or in person.

Required profile

• No experience required.
• Minimum B.Pharm degree.
• Registered as a Pharmacist Intern with the South African Pharmacy Council.
