Hospital Porter

About the role

Mediclinic Victoria is hiring one permanent, on-site Porter in Tongaat, South Africa. The role transports and escorts patients, equipment, files and related items between hospital departments to support hospital operations and the delivery of high standards of care.

Key responsibilities

• Transport and escort patients safely to a pre-determined location
• Assist with evacuations during emergency situations
• Execute the driver function when requested by the hospital and within hospital guidelines
• Ensure the integrity and confidentiality of patient rights and Mediclinic values

Required profile

• Grade 10 education (desired: none)
• Essential: client services experience dealing with the public
• Desired: healthcare experience such as care work
• English proficiency (read, speak and write)
• Preference given according to the Employment Equity Plan, as well as to internal applicants meeting the minimum requirements

Required skills

• PDP licence
• Knowledge of patient rights charter, medico-legal risks and the Health and Safety Act and regulations
• Two-way radio systems and computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
• Internal emergency evacuation plans and knowledge of administrative tasks
