Senior Production Manager – FMCG Facility

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Production Manager to lead the operations of our fast‑paced FMCG facility in Coega, Port Elizabeth. The role is responsible for delivering high‑quality, safe food products while meeting volume, cost and delivery targets. You will drive continuous improvement, ensure compliance with food safety standards and develop a high‑performing production team.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily production to achieve targets for volume, quality, cost and delivery.
• Develop and execute production plans aligned with demand forecasts and business goals.
• Monitor KPIs, implement corrective actions and lead internal/external audits.
• Ensure compliance with South African food safety regulations (HACCP, FSSC 22000, ISO, GMP).
• Lead, mentor and develop supervisors, line managers and production staff.
• Identify and implement productivity improvements, waste reduction and process optimisation using Lean, Six Sigma and other methodologies.
• Manage workforce planning, training, performance management and budgeting.
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance to maintain product specifications and address non‑conformances.

Required profile

• Grade 12 with a Diploma/Degree in Food Science, Production Management or related field; postgraduate qualification (MBA) advantageous.
• 8–10 years’ experience in food manufacturing, including at least 5 years in a senior production management role.
• Strong knowledge of South African food safety regulations and standards.
• Proven leadership experience in a fast‑paced production environment.
• Resident in the Port Elizabeth / Uitenhage area.
