Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor / Professor – Human Capital Management

About the role

The University of the Free State Business School is seeking senior academic staff – Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor or Professor – to lead teaching, research and community engagement in Human Capital Management. The successful candidate will join a vibrant faculty focused on strategic HRM, talent management and related disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise postgraduate students (PGDip, MBA, PhD) and guide their research projects.
• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate lectures in Human Capital Management, Talent Management, Strategic HRM, Organisational Behaviour and Labour Relations.
• Develop and update high‑quality teaching materials, short‑learning programmes and executive education modules.
• Conduct rigorous research and publish in reputable HRM journals.
• Perform academic administration including exam setting, marking, recording marks and handling student enquiries.
• Participate in academic committees, serve as cluster leader and contribute to the Business School’s strategic vision.
• Engage with industry partners through consultancy, mentorship and short‑course delivery.
• Lead multidisciplinary research projects and community‑focused training initiatives.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent in Human Capital Management, Human Resource Management or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated record of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Strong publication record in HRM or related disciplines.
• Experience supervising postgraduate research students.
• Ability to develop curricula and short‑learning programmes aligned with business needs.
