Senior Java Software Engineer

About the role

Entelect is looking for a Senior Java Software Engineer to design, develop, and deliver high‑quality web and mobile applications for leading South African organisations. You will work in a hybrid setting, collaborating with cross‑functional teams and mentoring junior colleagues.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain enterprise‑grade Java applications using Spring and Spring Boot.
• Participate in all SDLC phases, from system design and analysis to estimation and delivery.
• Drive product quality through containerisation, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
• Research and introduce innovative technologies to projects.
• Lead change initiatives, foster collaboration, and mentor team members.
• Build strong customer relationships, manage expectations and ensure compliance with data security regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of software engineering experience in an enterprise environment.
• Proven ability to architect small projects and deliver clean, maintainable code.
• Strong communication, collaboration and customer‑facing skills.
• Flexibility to work across diverse tools and environments.
