Intermediate Java Software Engineer

About the role

Entelect is looking for an Intermediate Java Software Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team that builds world‑class web and mobile applications for leading South African organisations. You will work in a hybrid environment, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality solutions while continuously improving your technical expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain enterprise‑grade Java applications using Spring, Spring Boot and related frameworks.
• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from design and estimation to implementation and testing.
• Contribute to DevOps practices by exploring containerisation, CI/CD pipelines and cloud environments (Azure, AWS).
• Engage with customers to understand requirements, identify improvement opportunities and ensure compliance with data security standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of software engineering experience in an enterprise setting.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with a customer‑facing mindset.
• Ability to work on‑site 2–3 days per week within a hybrid model.
