Senior Investment Officer, Funds

About the role

FinDev Canada is seeking a Senior Investment Officer for its Funds sector to join the Investments team in Cape Town, South Africa. The role focuses on driving sustainable finance initiatives in emerging markets, building a pipeline of bankable transactions, and supporting the organization’s mandate for climate action, gender equality, and market development.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, originate, and develop new investment opportunities within the Funds sector.
• Maintain and deepen relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders to secure a robust pipeline of transactions.
• Lead transaction processing, due diligence, and asset‑management activities to meet portfolio growth targets.
• Collaborate with internal teams to refine investment practices, processes, and reporting standards.
• Contribute to business development strategies and represent FinDev Canada in external forums.

Required profile

• Significant experience in investment, finance, or fund management, preferably in emerging markets.
• Proven track record of sourcing and executing investment transactions.
• Strong understanding of development finance principles and sustainable development goals.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Ability to work independently and hit the ground running in a dynamic environment.
