Senior Geotechnical Engineer

About the role

AECOM is recruiting a Senior Engineer – Geotechnical to apply scientific principles, develop technical solutions, monitor field activities and ensure project deliverables meet client expectations and specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize scientific principles and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems.
• Monitor geotechnical field activities and ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Liaise with geotechnical contractors to meet client expectations and deadlines.
• Ensure correctness and completeness of reports, drawings and other deliverables.
• Assist in preparing contractual correspondence as required.
• Travel internationally as project needs dictate.
• Perform additional duties associated with the geotechnical position.

Required profile

• Collaborate closely with Technical Directors and Associates, contributing to client meetings and decision‑making.
• Mentor junior staff and support their progression toward chartered status.
• Proven leadership experience with ability to inspire and lead teams.
• Prepare, check and review technical documents such as desk studies, reports, specifications and design drawings.
• Strong understanding of current design codes, standards and best practices; knowledge of Eurocodes is desirable.
• Experience in settlement analysis, retaining walls, foundations, earthworks and slope design.
• Proficiency with geotechnical software (GEO5, WALLAP, ALP, SlopeW/Slide, Plaxis) and AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
• Strong knowledge of soil and rock mechanics.
• Minimum 8 years of post‑graduate geotechnical investigation and design experience.
• BSc in Geotechnical Engineering or related field; Chartered Engineer status or registration with ECSA preferred.
