Senior General Foreman – Construction

About the role

The company is a leading provider of affordable housing and security estates in South Africa and seeks an experienced Senior General Foreman to lead construction projects in Somerset West, Cape Town. The role involves overseeing site activities, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and managing on‑site personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Implement project programmes and monitor progress.
• Maintain accurate record keeping and documentation.
• Conduct setting‑out, surveying and levelling activities.
• Oversee plant and equipment usage and maintenance.
• Ensure SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Quality) compliance and implementation.
• Supervise site staff and coordinate with trade teams.

Required profile

• NQF Level 4 or 5 qualification via CETA Trade Certification/Diploma or RPL; Honours degree is advantageous.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in construction or engineering environments.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
• Knowledge of construction processes, applicable trades, materials, plant, equipment, and site administration systems.
• Understanding of staff supervision, basic industrial relations, and safety legislation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
