Senior Financial Accountant (Travel Business)

About the role

WOLO Travel is seeking a reliable, detail‑driven Senior Financial Accountant to own the day‑to‑day finance function in a fast‑moving travel business. You will provide accurate financial information, improve processes, and support management decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the daily accounting function and own the month‑end close, including journals, accruals, provisions and reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports for senior management.
• Perform bank, supplier, customer and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate accounts payable and receivable records and support cash‑flow reporting.
• Ensure compliance with SARS, VAT, PAYE and other statutory requirements.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and margin reporting across travel packages and sales channels.
• Resolve finance‑related booking queries with sales, product and operations teams.
• Identify and correct discrepancies, duplicate transactions and reconciliation issues.
• Improve accounting processes, internal controls and reporting workflows using Xero, Zoho, Moonstride or similar platforms.

Required profile

• A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, including full month‑end and management reporting.
• Strong understanding of South African VAT, SARS and statutory compliance.
• Proven ability to work independently, meet deadlines and solve problems.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills.
