About the role

The municipality is seeking a Senior Engineering Technician to lead electrical development, manage contracts and oversee asset maintenance across its high, medium and low voltage networks.

Key responsibilities

Assess contract documents prepared by consultants before tenders are advertised.
Evaluate quotations and supervise contractual projects.
Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Plan and design high, medium and low voltage electricity networks.
Submit monthly progress reports.
Complete necessary contracts and insurance documentation.
Provide cost estimates for proposed projects in line with the master plan.

Required profile

Higher National Diploma or N6 qualification in Electrical Engineering with a valid trade test certificate.
Valid B/EB driver’s licence.
Minimum three years of experience within a municipal environment, preferably in a senior position.

Required skills

Electrical engineering expertise.
Design of high, medium and low voltage networks.
Contract evaluation and management.
Cost estimating for infrastructure projects.
