Senior Bookkeeper

About the role

A confidential employer based in Edenvale, Gauteng, is looking for an experienced, reliable and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to manage the full bookkeeping function independently, from daily transactions through to trial balance for the auditors. The position is advertised through ShiftMate, a trial-to-hire platform.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full bookkeeping function up to trial balance
• Process payroll and handle statutory submissions
• Reconcile bank, creditor, debtor and balance-sheet accounts
• Prepare VAT returns, journals and month-end procedures
• Maintain accurate financial records and prepare for the annual audit

Required profile

• Minimum five years' relevant bookkeeping experience, preferably at senior level
• Proven ability to manage accounts independently up to trial balance
• Fluent in English, with good reading, writing and communication skills
• Relevant bookkeeping or accounting qualifications are an advantage
• Reasonable accommodation for essential duties where required

Required skills

• Strong payroll, VAT and reconciliation knowledge
• Experience with Pastel Evolution is essential
