Senior Back-End / Full Stack Developer (.NET, SQL Server, Vue.js)

About the role

A global investment advisory firm focused on long-term value creation is hiring a Senior Back-End / Full Stack Developer in Cape Town, on a permanent basis with a hybrid in-office / remote arrangement. The client is large, offers strong career development and invests heavily in employee benefits, automation, AI and R&D.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement highly scalable backend services using .NET (C#) and optimise SQL Server databases.
• Lead critical system design and architectural decisions, prioritising scalability, reliability and maintainability.
• Guide the integration design between backend services and client-side Vue.js applications.
• Drive continuous improvement in development practices, code quality, testing standards and DevOps maturity.
• Mentor junior engineers, identify technical risks and propose mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate across distributed teams, take part in code reviews and architectural discussions, and influence technical direction.

Required profile

• 10+ years in software development, with a demonstrated ability to lead back-end initiatives and deliver complex full-stack systems end-to-end.
• Experience designing distributed, enterprise-grade systems.
• Proven ability to mentor engineers and conduct technical reviews.
• Excellent communication of architectural decisions and trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• .NET Core / C# for scalable, production-grade RESTful web APIs.
• Clean Architecture, SOLID principles and design patterns.
• Microsoft SQL Server, including schema design, indexing, performance tuning and query optimisation.
• CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Azure DevOps).
• Exposure to Vue.js, ETL workflows, cloud-native architecture, performance profiling and monitoring, and the financial/investment domain is a plus.
