Senior Accountant / Senior Rekenmeester (FN 129)

About the role

Our client is an established accounting and financial services firm based in Pretoria, Gauteng. The position is primarily remote, with occasional on‑site meetings 1‑2 times per month. The Senior Accountant will deliver comprehensive accounting, tax, payroll and advisory services to a diverse client base.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records and review bookkeeping.
• Prepare annual financial statements in accordance with the applicable reporting framework.
• Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL and other statutory returns.
• Prepare and submit company, trust and individual tax returns.
• Reconcile bank accounts, balance‑sheet accounts and general‑ledger accounts.
• Manage payroll processing and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
• Handle SARS queries, objections and general tax compliance matters.
• Provide clients with basic accounting, tax and business advice.
• Ensure compliance with the Companies Act, CIPC and other regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with clients, banks and regulatory authorities.
• Identify accounting errors and implement process improvements.
• Maintain professional ethics and stay up‑to‑date with changes in accounting standards and South African tax legislation.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant holding the FN 129 designation.
• Professional ethics and a strong commitment to regulatory compliance.
• Current knowledge of South African accounting standards and tax legislation.
