Sampler

About the role

ALS is looking for a Sampler in Durban to carry out thorough and accurate inspection and sampling of commodities according to client instructions. The Sampler receives training on sampling and an ALS induction covering quality, health and safety and port or terminal requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect and sample commodities, then pack, label, seal, size and weigh them as instructed
• Record all sampling and inspection details, including forms and photographic evidence
• Complete raw data record forms fully, keeping them traceable to internal job reference numbers
• Report anomalies and equipment errors immediately to the supervisor or manager
• Carry out equipment maintenance checks and record them in logbooks
• Follow ALS policies, SOPs, health and safety requirements and the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 17025:2017 quality standards
• Work weekends and overtime when required, and maintain confidentiality and impartiality

Required profile

• National Senior Certificate (Matric)
• Working knowledge of sampling equipment and sample preparation
• Reliable, able to work long hours with minimal supervision and open to ongoing training
• Citizen or permanent resident of the country of application, or able to obtain a valid working visa
