Expeditor / Distribution Planner

About the role

An office-based Customer Liaison Officer / Distribution Planner is needed in Durban, reporting to the Account Manager. The role combines customer liaison, route planning, fleet monitoring, logistics coordination and operational reporting, acting as the main contact for customer delivery queries while helping plan and optimise distribution routes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage route adherence, liaise with stores and customers, and handle delivery queries and escalations daily
• Assist drivers, acknowledge and report vehicle events, and manage vehicle abuse
• Monitor fleet KPIs and produce daily operational, fleet and planning reports, plus monthly KPI reports and scorecards
• Support route planning and optimisation, maintain planning systems and identify cost-saving opportunities
• Liaise with planning and operational teams and support network improvement initiatives

Required profile

• Entry-level position: 1-2 years' experience in distribution, logistics, transport or customer service, or a qualification in logistics, supply chain, transport or a related field
• Minimum qualification: Road Transport Diploma, Logistics Diploma, BCom Logistics, Supply Chain Management or similar
• Outgoing, professional and persuasive communicator who can work independently and handle pressure

Required skills

• Understanding of supply chain principles and route planning and optimisation
• Intermediate Excel, Word and reporting systems
• Ability to analyse operational data and manage multiple priorities
