Sales Representative – Informal Market

About the role

An established South African meat and protein supplier is seeking a driven Sales Representative to expand its presence in the informal market of Pretoria. This field‑based position involves building relationships with customers, identifying new business opportunities and promoting a range of meat and protein products.

Key responsibilities

• Promote and sell the company’s meat and protein range within the Pretoria informal market.
• Identify, approach and develop new customers, growing a strong customer base in the assigned territory.
• Conduct regular visits, travel extensively throughout Pretoria and maintain long‑term relationships with existing and prospective clients.
• Understand customer needs, recommend appropriate products and work towards agreed sales targets.
• Follow up on leads, quotations and sales opportunities, and provide market feedback on competitor activity.
• Complete sales administration accurately and on time.

Required profile

• Previous experience in sales, field sales or business development.
• Experience selling into the informal sector is highly advantageous.
• Strong ability to identify and develop new sales opportunities.
• Confident in approaching prospects and building relationships.
• Target‑driven with a focus on achieving and growing sales.
• Excellent verbal communication and negotiation skills.
• Comfortable travelling extensively throughout Pretoria and holding a valid driver’s licence.
• Good administrative, organisational and independent working abilities.
