Sales Executive - Mining

About the role

dmg events is an international exhibitions and publishing company that attracts more than 425,000 visitors to its portfolio of 80 exhibitions each year. It is looking for a Sales Executive for mining events in Cape Town. The role builds foundational sales capability through prospecting, pipeline management, customer engagement and CRM discipline, while supporting revenue growth by selling exhibition space and sponsorship and developing strong customer relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Promote and sell exhibition space and sponsorship
• Run a telephone sales campaign to lapsed exhibitors and new prospects
• Conduct face-to-face sales to current exhibitors, lapsed exhibitors and new prospects
• Source new companies from the trade press and competitive events and follow up on new prospects
• Liaise with associations and trade bodies
• Develop and maintain long-term relationships with customers and prospects, understanding their business and marketing needs
• Develop and manage the prospect database and keep accurate sales force records
• Maintain contact with exhibitors and deliver a high standard of customer service
• Work with the Sales Manager to identify new opportunities for the event
• Achieve individual and event revenue targets and support debt collection

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing or a related discipline (preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of B2B sales experience in African or global markets
• Proven track record in lead generation, cold calling, CRM management and closing sales
• Experience of being responsible for ambitious sales targets and consistently meeting or exceeding them
• Ability to communicate effectively by phone, email and face-to-face, and to travel within the region as required
