Sales Analyst

About the role

O'Brien Recruitment is advertising a full-time Sales Analyst position in the Western Cape. The role suits someone who enjoys working with data, building reports and dashboards and turning complex information into practical business recommendations.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse sales, customer, brand, channel and market data to find trends, opportunities and performance gaps.
• Develop, maintain and improve sales reports, dashboards and performance trackers.
• Monitor sales performance across regions, brands, customers and sales representatives.
• Prepare daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly management reports.
• Support sales forecasting, budget tracking and scenario planning.
• Develop and monitor KPIs and sales targets.
• Extract, consolidate and validate data from CRM systems, customer portals and external data providers.
• Maintain customer databases and sales representative call cycle information.
• Work with Sales, Finance, Brand and Trade Marketing teams on commercial insights.
• Prepare presentations and performance reports for senior management.
• Improve reporting processes, data accuracy and business efficiency, and support colleagues with reporting tools and dashboards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics, Marketing, Business Analytics or a related field preferred.
• About 5 years' experience in Sales Analytics, Commercial Analytics, Business Intelligence or a similar role preferred.
• Proven experience in sales reporting, data analysis, forecasting and KPI monitoring.
• Experience with large datasets and building reports or dashboards.
• Detail-oriented, proactive, commercially aware, with strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Strong Microsoft PowerPoint and reporting skills.
• Good understanding of CRM systems, data management and reporting processes.
• Advantageous: Power BI or similar BI tools, and knowledge of systems such as Eyona, Geo Rep, Nielsen, Aztec (IRi) or Britehouse.
