Registered Nurse – Oncology Ward

About the role

This full-time, on-site position is for a Registered Nurse in the Oncology Ward at Mediclinic Bloemfontein, Free State. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the Senior Professional Nurse delivers high-quality patient care, administers medications, documents patient needs and works closely with the multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
• Assist with medical procedures and provide medication administration.
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans and recovery processes.
• Document patient observations, vital signs and care activities accurately.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and allied health professionals.
• Maintain strict adherence to clinical protocols and health-and-safety standards.
• Support the Unit Manager in day-to-day ward operations.

Required profile

• Valid registration with the relevant Nursing Council.
• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Nursing (or equivalent qualification).
• Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting (advantageous).
• Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for patient education and team collaboration.
• Knowledge of health and safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
