Receiving and Dispatch Clerk – Stellenbosch

About the role

A luxury 4-star wine farm hotel in the heart of the Stellenbosch Winelands is looking for a Receiving and Dispatch Clerk. The role covers the accurate receipt, inspection, recording, storage and dispatch of stock, keeping the store clean, organised and compliant with Health and Safety requirements, and delivering stock to outlets. Candidates must follow security procedures, report discrepancies and maintenance issues to management, and join a service-oriented, collaborative team.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, check and dispatch daily deliveries to the relevant outlets
• Check deliveries against purchase orders and report price variances and stock shortages
• Load the delivery vehicle and deliver stock to departments
• Work with the Waterplant operator so water orders and deliveries reach outlets on time
• Monitor outstanding deliveries and open purchase orders
• Keep the receiving bay clean and tidy, and maintain the stores vehicles
• Carry out weekly and monthly stock counts and help other departments as needed
• Follow company policies, health and safety and security protocols, and report complaints or incidents to management
• Promote the client's offerings and share knowledge of sustainable living, food, wine and hospitality
• Meet ad hoc requests from the department

Required profile

• At least 1 year of experience in a similar role; hospitality experience is an advantage
• Sound knowledge of food and beverage items and quality assessment
• Good literacy, numeracy and English, verbal and written
• Basic knowledge of health and safety and hygiene standards
• Strong organisation, attention to detail and ability to work independently under pressure
• Physically fit, able to lift and pack; valid driver's licence (mandatory)
• South African citizens or permanent residents only; candidates already in the Winelands region are preferred

Required skills

• Proficient MS Office, especially Excel
• Knowledge of Micros Simphony is beneficial
