Accountant for 5-Star Hotel

About the role

Our client is a luxurious 5‑star hotel in Stellenbosch seeking an experienced, organised and detail‑oriented Accountant to manage day‑to‑day accounting and bookkeeping functions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting, accounts payable/receivable and general ledger.
• Process invoices, payments, receipts and journal entries.
• Perform daily bank, credit‑card, cash, debtor and creditor reconciliations.
• Assist with month‑end, year‑end procedures and prepare management accounts.
• Prepare VAT returns, statutory submissions and audit documentation.
• Monitor outstanding balances, perform variance analysis and resolve accounting queries.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance or Bookkeeping.
• Minimum two years of accounting/bookkeeping experience, preferably in hospitality.
• Strong analytical, reconciliation and attention‑to‑detail skills.
• Ability to work independently, meet strict deadlines and maintain confidentiality.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks or Pastel.
• Familiarity with South African accounting and tax requirements.
