QESH Specialist – Quality, Safety & Environmental Management

About the role

The QESH Specialist will develop, maintain and support the SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Quality) management system for a beverage production site. The role acts as the management representative for internal and external audits and provides guidance to plant personnel on all SHEQ processes.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update the SHEQ Management System in line with Heineken standards.
• Manage the SHEQ information system and ensure ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP, ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 are implemented and used.
• Train staff on Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and monitor performance through audits.
• Develop and revise SHEQ standards, guidelines and certification schemes for wineries.
• Lead third‑party audits, including regulatory and certification bodies.
• Investigate and resolve compliance issues, supporting the Quality Assurance Manager and Group SHEQ.
• Act as Quality Coordinator for the Laboratory Star System and liaison with the Technological Controller on laboratory quality matters.

Required profile

• Degree in Food Science or a related scientific discipline.
• Qualified Lead Auditor aligned with ISO 19011.
• 3‑5 years of experience implementing and maintaining FSQMS.
• Strong understanding of statutory compliance (quality, environmental, food safety, health & safety) and current legislation.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including fluency in Afrikaans.
• Proven ability to create documented processes, procedures and work instructions.
• Team player with strong interpersonal and influencing skills.

Required skills

• ISO 19011 Lead Auditor qualification
• ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000 knowledge
• HACCP and GMP implementation experience
• Advanced computer skills
• Knowledge of brewing processes (advantageous)
