QC Inspector – Incoming Materials Quality Control

About the role

The QC Inspector will be the first line of defence against defective incoming parts, ensuring that all materials, components and assemblies meet the company's quality, dimensional and specification standards before they enter production.

Key responsibilities

• Perform visual, mechanical and dimensional inspections on incoming items using calipers, micrometers, gauges and templates.
• Approve or reject materials based on conformance to specifications and record results in ERP/MRP systems.
• Generate Non‑Conforming Material Reports (NCRs) for rejected items and maintain accurate inspection logs.
• Communicate defects and supplier quality issues to procurement, engineering and production teams.
• Support corrective actions during internal and external CAR processes.
• Tag, label, quarantine or release material according to inspection outcomes.
• Maintain a tidy inspection area and ensure compliance with regulatory and customer quality standards.
• Suggest improvements to inspection workflows and overall manufacturing processes.

Required profile

• High School Diploma / Matric (required); technical or manufacturing QC diploma preferred.
• Minimum 3 years experience in quality inspection, preferably in incoming materials inspection.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset and ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
• Effective communication skills for cross‑department and supplier interaction.

Required skills

• Proficiency with measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers and gauges.
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems for inspection data entry.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and specifications.
• Knowledge of geometric tolerances and quality standards.
