Project Manager

About the role

ABB is seeking a Project Manager to lead medium‑size to large‑scale projects within its Automation Energy Industries in South Africa. You will be responsible for ensuring project execution aligns with ABB’s procedures, standards, and sustainability goals while supporting team development and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the project team, define the execution approach, and manage hand‑over, planning, monitoring, and control activities.
• Coordinate internal and external resources to achieve project milestones and financial targets.
• Drive continuous improvement and simplification of project processes.
• Support local sales and tendering activities through early involvement in bids.
• Oversee formal project acceptance, contract close‑out, and customer acknowledgment in line with contractual obligations.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of project management experience, leading complex projects valued between USD 15 M and 50 M in the energy sector.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering (light or heavy current) and PMP certification.
• Fluent in English and holder of a valid South African code 8 driver’s licence.
• Knowledge of FIDIC and NEC contracts is advantageous.
